The governor described the suspects as a threat to their country of destination and a threats to neighbouring countries like Libya, including Nigeria. Likewise, disclosing details of the arrest of the suspects, Kano state commissioner of police, Alhaji Muhmmad Musa Katsina said the 13 Nigerians were arrested in possession of fake travelling passports to Libya.
He expressed fear that they had the potential of joining a terrorist group once they get into Libya. Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Nobel prize winner, Professor Wole Soyinka, has said that the lust for power drove certain politicians in Nigeria to support the activities of the Boko Haram sect. In an interview on television network, Channel 4, Soyinka said that these set of politicians were ready to sacrifice anything in their pursuit for power. According to him, the terrorist group has turned against the forces that supported its emergence.
