Nigeria's economic management team revealed

– President Muhammadu Buhari’s economic management team has been set up
– The composition of the people in the team has been made known to the general public
– Nigeria is currently facing serious economic crunch especially with the volatile foreign exchange rate

Information coming from Abuja has indicated that President Muhammadu Buhari is ready to repair Nigeria’s battered economy. This is because the people to manage the economy for the president has been revealed. This is highly important at the moment as Nigerians are groaning under a high exchange rate especially businessmen and importers.

During an interview with newsmen on February 26, Mr Laolu Akande, the senior special assistant to the vice president on media and publicity revealed this development.

The vice president’s spokesman reacted to criticisms emanating from economic experts that President Buhari is yet to inaugurate an economic management team. He rebuffed the claim. He made it clear that the team came into existence when the Federal Executive Council (FEC) was inaugurated in November, 2015. He stated that Professor Yemi Osinbajo heads the team. He likewise gave the names of the other people to work with the vice president. Akande listed the team’s key members.

The composition of the team is shown below:

1. Prof Yemi Osinbajo Prof Osinbajo is Nigeria’s current number two citizen. He acted for a week as president when the president went on vacation. He is a Senior Advocate of Nigerian (SAN). He used to be a lecturer at the University of Lagos (UNILAG). He also served as Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General between 1999 to 2007 in Lagos state.






2. Senator Udoma Udo Udoma He is an accomplished businessman. He has vast experience in the financial sector. He has been at the top position in some of Nigeria’s leading banks and industries. He is the Minister of Budget and National Planning. He was a former lawmaker at the upper chambers.



3. Kemi Adeosun The former Commissioner for Finance in Ogun state is one of Nigeria’s youngest minister. She was of recent lambasted for an arithmetical error she made when she said 16 + 6 = 24. She is the Minister of Finance under the Buhari-led administration.




4. Okechukwu Enelamah The Igbo-born minister has vast years of experience in international businesses. He is the Minister of Trade, Industry and Investment.
 




5. Godwin Emefiele He heads Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). He used to be at the top management level of one of Nigeria’s new generational banks before he was made the CBN governor.


6. Audu Ogbe He was formerly in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where he served as the National Chairman of the PDP. He is the nation’s Minister of Agriculture.


7. Alhaji Lai Mohammed The former publicity secretary of the All Progressives Party (APC) is the country’s Minister of Information and Culture. He was recently attacked for the his comments on defeating Boko Haram insurgents technically.
