CAF fines Nigeria $5,000 for stadium overcrowding in AFCON qualifier

Africa's ruling football body, CAF, on Monday morning May 9th fined the Nigerian Football Federation $5,000 for allowing its stadium to be overcrowded during their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt in Kaduna in March.

The Kaduna State government had thrown open the doors of the venue for free to allow fans to watch the crucial AFCON qualifier which ended 1-1

More than 40,000 spectators entered into the 15,000 capacity stadium in Kaduna, and sat anywhere they could find space, from the floors, to the score board and flood lights and now CAF has reacted with this suspension saying such action puts the players and officials lives at risk.
