Liverpool goal poacher has been in doubt for Uruguay world cup after sustaining a knee injury during training.The 27 years old liverpool striker who has 33 caps and 31 goals had an MRI scan on wednesday which revealed damage to the meniscus in the knee, with the team doctor deciding surgery was necessary. Liverpool, meanwhile, are awaiting an update from their own medical staff.
"According to the report I received a while ago, we are optimistic that he can go to the World Cup," secretary of Uruguay's national team Roberto Pastoriza told ovaciondigital.com. "It was all a surprise. Suarez trained with a niggle and decided to have an MRI. Until a while ago, the last information I had was that they were deciding what to do. The issue officially will be announced by the AUF on Thursday morning."
Suárez was in excellent form for Liverpool in the Premier League this season, scoring 31 goals, and was named the PFA and Football Writers' player of the year.
