Lagos State Govt set to take custody of 5-year-old girl battered and branded with hot iron by her father

The Lagos State Government is set take custody of a five-year-old girl who was battered and abused by her father. 46 year old Sukurat Idowu, a resident of Ikotun was arrested after he burnt his child's face and private part with hot iron because she allegedly fell inside a gutter.


Lagos State Police spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos, who confirm the new development said the state government had already indicated interest to take over the abused child, who is currently receiving treatment at one of the state hospitals.

"The Lagos State government through its domestic and sexual response team through ministry of youth and social development has shown interest in taking over the child."
