EFCC set to release ex-minister after meeting bail conditions

Femi Fani-Kayode, a former minister of aviation and the director of media and publicity in the campaign organisation of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has met his bail conditions but still being held by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), his media aide, Jude Ndukwe said.

The EFCC had charged Fani-Kayode alongside Nenadi Usman, a former finance minister, and Danjuma Yusuf with  a 17-count charge bordering on unlawful retention, unlawful use and unlawful payment of money to the tune of N4.9 billion.

They were arraigned before a federal high court, sitting in Lagos, and consequently granted bail on July 4 to tune of N250 million.
In a statement issued on Monday, July 11, Ndukwe said the former minister is “waiting for the EFCC" to very his bail documents before he would be released.

“He misses his family very badly, especially his five-month-old son Aragon, and he looks forward to coming home to be with his family, friends and loved ones,” the statement said.
Fani-Kayode, who was in EFCC detention for 62 days, remains confident, healthy and in high spirit, his aide said.
