A Saudi Arabian man shot the doctor who helped his wife give birth because he was a male and not a female doctor.
Dr Muhannad Al-Zabn was shot after meeting the new father outside the delivery ward at King Fahad Medical City in Riyadh.
He thought he was receiving a thank you for the successful delivery but instead, the furious man pulled out a gun from underneath his jacket and fired it at him.
The husband then fled the scene, Gulf News reported.
Dr Al-Zabn was immediately taken to intensive care where he was operated on, and is now said to be in a stable condition following the shooting.
The unidentified man, who is believed to have been upset that another man would have seen his wife naked, has now been arrested by police.
In Saudi Arabia, men and women are segregated in most public places.
Women are also banned from driving and need to have a male guardian when they go out.
