A
47-year-old fake lawyer, Ayodele Balogun, has been arrested by the Ogun
State Police Command for practicing as a lawyer in the last 10 years
without training, Daily Post reports.
Balogun who hails from Otta in Ado-Odo
Otta Local Government Area of the state was arrested by detectives
attached to the Otta Division of the state Police Command.
The suspect who has been parading
himself as a trained lawyer and practicing at a popular chamber in the
Otta arm of the state Judiciary was arrested following a complainant
that he had duped somebody to the tune of N140, 000.
Confirming the arrest, the Police Public
Relations Officer, PPRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said, “The suspect and
others who might be indicted in the course of police investigation, be
charged to court without delay and his(their) details be sent to the
Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, and other concerned groups/bodies for
necessary action.”
“While the suspect was being
interrogated, a notable legal practitioner in Otta also alerted the
police of the suspect’s criminal antecedents and the need to interrogate
him extensively,” the PPRO stated.
He, however, noted that the
Commissioner of Police, CP, Abdulmajid Ali, expressed disappointment in
the suspect’s alleged involvement in nefarious activities even as he
(the CP) vowed to make Ogun State hot for criminals and unscrupulous
elements.
