Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Ogbonnaya Francis Nwaifuru, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
He is alleged to have diverted and misappropriated N60 million constituency project fund before his emergence as speaker.
Operatives of the commission arrested Nwaifuru at about 11a.m. on Friday at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.
The EFCC revealed that Nwaifuru had ignored two previous invitations by the anti-graft agency.
Nwaifuru was initially invited on October 20, 2015 to appear before the Enugu zonal office of the commission but he failed to show up.
The lawmaker representing Izzi West state constituency was sent a reminder on November 19, 2015, but he also ignored this notice as well.
