A gang of masked gunmen stormed the crusade ground of a fellowship church in Kaduna on Monday and abducted three pastors, including the church’s president, Dr Emmanuel Dziggau.
Dziggau who is also the president of Haddiya Ekklesiya Kristi a Nigeria (TEKAN), was kidnapped together with his deputy, Reverend Illiya Anto and a retired reverend in the church, Yakubu Dzarma.
The general secretary of the church, Moses Ebuga who confirmed the incident during a press conference at the TEKAN headquarters in Jos on Tuesday, said the abductors have called, demanding N100 million ransom.
kidnapped pastors, Iliya Anto, who just left his hospital bed after an operation, was released on Tuesday by the abductors who used his phone to contact them.“The abductors used the mobile phone of the Rev. Iliya Anto, (rtd) to call and demanded payment of N100 million ransom” he said.
Mr. Ebuga added that the abduction of the church leaders may not be unconnected with the forthcoming national elections of Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN) and called on the Kaduna State government, the federal government and all security agents to ensure safe release of the religious leaders.
CAN president Pastor Oritsejafor is said to have summoned an emergency meeting of all church leaders in the country for Thursday in Abuja.
Meanwhile, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), has Reacted the proposed religious bill which is before the Kaduna State House of Assembly seeking to regulate religious activities in the state by sending a message to President Muhammadu Buhari warning him against the bill and asking him to call the governor of Kaduna state, Nasir el-Rufai, to order.
