Jonathan gets nomination for prestigious awards

– Ex-president Goodluck Jonathan may receive yet another prestigous leadership award

– Jonathan was nominated alongside the national leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu which include other prominent African

The African Leadership Magazine has nominated the immediate past president Goodluck Jonathan as one of its nominees for the Person of the Year Awards.

Others that will battle it out with Jonathan for the award are a former secretary general of United Nations, Kofi Annan; chairman of Heirs Holding, Tony Elumelu; the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Bola Tinubu; founder of Econet Wireless, Dr. Strive Masiyiwa; president of African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina; executive director of UN women, Ms. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka and a Tanzania businessman, Mo Dewji.

According to the publisher of the magazine, Dr. Ken Giami, the nominees were shortlisted from distinguished Africa business owners, political and diplomatic leaders who have contributed to making the continent great in the year under review,The Trent reports. Dr. Giami said: “This group of Africans have contributed immensely towards repositioning the African continent; breaking boundaries; and placing the continent on the global stage. “As it is with past recipients of the prestigious African Leadership Magazine Person of the Year Awards, the 2015 nominees have one thing in common, which is their undying love for the continent.”

He added that the eventual winner of the of 2015 Person of the Years Ward be announced on Tuesday, March 1 stating that the winner would be formally decorated with the prestigious medal during the African Public Service Forum that will hold on March 25 in Johannesburg, capital of South Africa. Meanwhile,an aide de camp to the former president, Goodluck Jonathan had dragged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission  to court over abuse of his fundamental human rights. Ojogbane Adegbe is seeking among others: N100 million as damages for unlawful detention from the EFCC, a court order for his immediate release and a written apology by the anti-graft agency.
