STOLEN COWS RECOVERED AT GWAGWALADA.

Thirty seven cows said to have been stolen at a farm near Dukpa village in Gwagwalada Area Council have been recovered and the suspected rustler arrested Daily Trust heard yesterday.
The owner of the farm, Abe Mohammed Wala, said six suspected cattle rustlers came through a bush path onto his farm where 37 cows were kept and drove them away. He said the cows belong to three people.
He said two Fulani herders sighted the suspected cattle rustlers and went into hiding to avoid being attacked by the rustlers.
Abe said one of the Fulani men, who sighted the hoodlums, placed calls to people in Gwagwalada town and the police went on their trail.
“The police blocked them and they were overpowered and one of them was arrested and taken to the police station, while the 37 cows were retrieved from them,’’ he added.
When our reporter visited Gwagwalada Divisional Police Headquarters for comments on Saturday, the DPO, Mr. John Iyang, was not on seat but a police officer at the station confirmed the arrest of a cattle rustler.
He also confirmed that 37 cows were recovered from the rustlers who invaded a farm near Dukpa village on Friday night, saying the suspect had already been transferred to the FCT police command, as effort is ongoing to trail the other fleeing rustlers.
It would be recalled that last month, a gang of suspected cattle rustlers invaded a farm at Old Kuntunku community in the council and stole 36 cows.
