HERE ARE THE 4 FINALISTS FOR NIGERIAN IDOLS.

What a show it was as the Top 4; Evelle, Elvis Jay, Eye-D and Antwon, took us way back in time as they performed renditions of MOTOWN themed songs from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. We also had the pleasure of having Timi Dakolo, the winner of West African Idol (2005) on the show as both a guest judge and a guest artiste. He thrilled us with his latest single ‘Iyawo Mi’ and also gave his two cents on each of the Top 4’s performances. The Top 4 performed two songs each to show their versatility and growth in terms of being a true and worthy performer. Before they performed their songs individually, they opened the show singing Lionel Richie’s ‘All Night Long’ and the set the mood right for the show. Evelle was billed as the first performer for both rounds. She sang Debarge’s ‘Rhythm of the night’ for her first performance and Temptations’ ‘My Girl’.
For both performances, Evelle got good reviews and praises from the judges. Elvis Jay was the second in line as he performed Edwin Starr’s ‘War’ and Rick James’ ‘Super Freak’. Elvis’ performances caused Darey and Dede to go back and forth at each other; Darey said his in the first one, he almost lost the essence of the song, but hailed him in the second, while the reverse was the case for Dede in both performances. Eye-D’s song choices were ‘Dancing in the Street’ by Martha and the Vandellas and ‘My Guy’ by Mary Wells. Compared to her last week’s performances, the judges noted that Eye-D came alive performing these songs but urged her not to get too comfortable. Last but not the least to wrap up the contestants’ show was Antwon. He got a standing ovation for his rendition of Commodores’ ‘Three Times a Lady’ and got everyone dancing has he rendered Jackson 5’s ‘I Want You Back’.
Overall, the Top 4 contestants put up a great show and have no choice but to wait to see who the voting public will vote for to Top 3. Voting ends at 00:00am on Thursday. Your favourite needs your votes now more than ever. Make your votes count!
